Let's Color Jefferson Street

Let's Color Jefferson Street, launched on April 26, 2025, marked the first phase of the Let's Color Nashville initiative and brought new energy to the intersection of Jefferson Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard in North Nashville. The project was a collaboration between the Office of Mayor Freddie O'Connell, Creative Girls Rock, and AkzoNobel. This project was one of thousands completed around the world through AkzoNobel's global Let's Color program.

The mural was designed by lead artist Elisheba Mrozik and supporting artists, Christian Green, Shadale Smith, and Leandra Crystal.

Around fifty volunteers, including community members and AkzoNobel employees, came together to help paint the mural, with families and kids also participating through chalk art activities nearby. The event aligned with Nashville’s Tactical Urbanism Program and aimed to improve the pedestrian experience while strengthening community identity.

"Community is at the heart of Jefferson Street, and we're excited to collaborate with the community, Creative Girls Rock®, and AkzoNobel to create vibrant art for all of us to enjoy that celebrates the sights, sounds, and people of Jefferson Street," said Mayor O'Connell. "When complete, the Let's Color Jefferson Street sidewalk mural will provide a vibrant greeting to all who live, work, and travel here."

Current Project

Let's Color McGavock High

On Wednesday, July 22nd, the Office of Mayor Freddie O'Connell is partnering again with AkzoNobel for a special event at McGavock High School. Together with students, we'll be bringing new color and vibrancy to the sidewalk of one of the school's quads through a creative paint project.

The mural design will draw inspiration from the spirit of McGavock's academies, incorporating their signature colors to create a bright and cohesive look. Within that palette, we're excited to hear students' ideas about how those colors can be arranged, combined, or used to express themes that feel meaningful to the school community.
